North Yarmouth has a distinct small town atmosphere that promotes a peaceful and tranquil lifestyle. The town of resides in Cumberland County with a population of 3565 residents living on 21.22 square miles of land. The town currently embraces 1,036 families living in 1,297 households. The town is considered fairly affluent and relatively older in comparison to its neighbors.
The town was created in 1680 and still preserves many of its precious landmarks. Although it is considered a suburb of Portland, Yarmouth has its own quaint charm and distinctive personality. Many of its residents commute to the Portland area and there are plenty of small businesses in town to supply residents with whatever they need.
This once a bountiful agricultural town still takes pride in its Ag- history and residents also pride themselves in their appreciation for the great outdoors. There's lots of open-air activities all year round; farm visits to the carriage Museum at the skyline farm to playing in the parks. There are numerous walking trails as well as areas for hiking, biking and kayaking.
Summer brings many concerts and recreational sports. Spring and fall each have their own festive activities from parades and live music two raffles and vendor exhibits. Winter brings snowmobiling trails and cross country skiing.
There is plenty of open space in North Yarmouth and the houses are fairly spaced out with plenty of room for growing families. The village center has a greater cluster of homes which are closer to each other. Although many residents commute to the hustle and bustle of the nearby Metro area, they always come home to the small town of North Yarmouth.
