The historic town of Cumberland is part of the Cumberland County area where it got its name. The town was incorporated in 1821 and is part of the Portland-South Portland-Biddeford, Maine Metro area. The 2010 census puts the population at 7,211 residents living within a total area of 26.25 square miles.
There is a rich farming history and Cumberland. One of the highlights of the town is undoubtedly the Cumberland Agricultural Fair, which is held annually at the end of September. The fair has been going strong since 1868 and is one of the largest fairs in the state.The small town is well known for its scenic beauty and its residents for their love of the great outdoors. The district has four schools within its boundaries which also serve nearby North Yarmouth as well.
